One in Seven
One in seven prostitutes (male, female and ts/tg) in Amsterdam is supposed to be infected with HIV. At least according to a newspaper article I read a while age. They forgot to mention that the article was based on research done with street walkers only, in the year 2002. This did inspire me to make this website. I made the conscious decision to continue working as a prostitute and I am probably not the only one. This website is for those prostitutes and all other type of sexworkers infected with HIV and for those requireing a rational, objective view and advice in decideing what to do. HIV can't be cured, but it doesn't mean you nor your career are dead. It does not mean that you, by definition, will lose everything you have, as the HIV Vereniging told me when I called them for advice. Nor did they know a place where I could go with my specific problems and questions... I was very welcome to come over and have a cup of coffee though.
The Purpose of this Site
This site is created for HIV positive sexworkers to share experiences, advise, stories and offering eachother support and advice when faceing problems we will all face (or have already faced). Makeing things a bit easier for ourselves by warning eachother for pending problems and/or spotting lucrative business oppertunities. Suggestions and afvice how to respond if a client wants to fuck without and what it should be worth. But maybe more important... Do you wish to do that even if the client knows of the risks? How to ensure that regular clients run as litle risk as possible and how to keep yourself healthy when doing bareback sex. This site is intended to empower ourselves, to help eachother to make objective and clear decissions what you yourself find acceptable. This site stands for a persons own free choice, takeing their own responsibillities and not submitting to the morale and ethical "will" of the outside world in doing so.
